The Challenge You'll Tackle
We're looking for an experienced Perl Engineer to join our engineering team and help build, maintain, and modernize business-critical backend systems that automate and manage large-scale network infrastructure. You'll work on high-availability applications, modernize existing services, contribute to the evolution of our architecture, and develop scalable solutions that power one of the world's leading Internet Exchange platforms.If you enjoy solving complex backend challenges, writing clean and maintainable code, and working in a collaborative environment, we'd love to hear from you.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Perl.
- Improve and modernize existing codebases while ensuring stability and performance.
- Develop new features and enhance existing functionality.
- Integrate internal and third-party APIs.
- Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code.
- Optimize application performance and troubleshoot production issues.
- Collaborate with developers, QA, Product Managers, and DevOps teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Contribute to the modernization and refactoring of legacy systems into a more modular architecture.
- Work closely with network engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable solutions.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical discussions.
The Mastery We're Seeking
- 4+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Perl, including experience with object-oriented Perl using Moo or similar object systems.
- Good understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
- Experience working in Linux environments.
- Experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Experience with REST APIs and web services.
- Familiarity with Git and modern development workflows.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to understand, maintain, and improve legacy systems.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a distributed team.
- Good written and spoken English.
Skills That Will Set You Apart
- Experience working with Python, Ruby, or other backend languages.
- Familiarity with the CPAN ecosystem and Perl modules.
- Experience developing software for network infrastructure or provisioning systems.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, and network infrastructure.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
